Theory Club

(for ages 8 to 18) is designed to ensure pupils make quick and efficient progress in music theory, alongside their instrumental tuition.  We work with beginners up to Grade 5 ABRSM level (for young people wanting to take Grade 6+ in an instrument), in a fun, informal setting using games, multi-media and workbooks.

Lingard has been running these popular sessions for many years, and they have achieved a very high pass rate.  Membership is vital for children wanting to either take GCSE / A level music or to take the Grade 5 Theory Examination.   Grade 5 is a prerequisite for any student wishing to take the higher grades of the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) as well as being an entry requirement for many A level music courses.

Clubs operate on Tuesday’s in term-time from 4pm to 5pm at St Peter’s School, Oliver’s Battery Road North, Winchester and have a maximum group size of 8.  The Theory Club is run by Sarah Dodd.
